The Ranger Civitans honored the clergy of our community with a breakfast on Wednesday, February 3rd. Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen read a proclamation declaring Clergy Appreciation Week for the city. Ranger Civitan Stephanie Moreno told the story of the 4 Chaplins that are the inspiration behind this Civitan recognition. Special thanks to the Gospel Lighthouse Church for allowing us to use their facility.
GPISD Special Education teachers and staff will be honored by the Ranger Civitan Club at 9:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce meeting room. (9/11/2015) The Ranger Civitan Club of Grand Prairie, Texas along with the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce gave a multimedia presentation documenting the tragic events of September 11, 2001. A timeline with audio, video and news coverage of the events of the day was presented at the Uptown Theater as local citizens along with the Grand Prairie Mayor and city council members gave honor to those that lost their lives. Special thanks to Tuscany's Pasta & Pizza and Roma's Italian Bistro for their support of this event.
Sophie Birdwell, Produce Promotion Coordinator for the North Texas Food Bank, was the guest speaker at the August 4th Ranger Civitan Meeting. Sophie shared information on various programs and volunteer opportunities at the food bank including the Partner Gardens that provide fresh produce, Nourishing Neighbors food delivery to senior and disabled clients, and cooking lessons that supplement the food that is provided.

Chapa were joined by 6 Volunteer Match volunteers at the University of Texas Arlington on May 23rd to
take part in the 2015 Texas Special Olympics Summer Games at UT @ Arlington.
The Honorable Mayor of Grand Prairie Ron Jensen was our guest speaker at our July 7th meeting. He spoke on the importance of civic volunteerism and how Civitans help play a vital role in the community. He said the best advertisement for Grand Prairie is word of mouth from the citizens that are proud to call this home. He also shared many of the new exciting things that are coming.
Membership in Civitan is open to any man or woman without regard to race, creed or color, who is at least 18 years old, or a high school graduate and of good character. Every Civitan should understand and appreciate the mission of Civitan International and strive to promote the three principle goals of service, knowledge , and fellowship.
